At Silver, we believe that true success lies not only in our projects but also in the positive impact we create within our communities. Today, on Positive Media Day, we are excited to share a heart-warming story that reflects our commitment to making a difference and saving lives.

In January, our team was deeply moved when we learned that the Black Knights hockey team who play in the Southern Counties Hockey Conference, had fallen victim to vandalism, resulting in the destruction of their life-saving defibrillator. The need for the defibrillator became a stark reality for the team when their former Captain suffered a cardiac arrest and sadly passed away pitch side, during a game in 2020. We knew we had to step in and help. In partnership with Life Build we were delighted to be able to provide a new defibrillator to the hockey team.

The defibrillator will be present with the team at every match, not just to protect their own team, but also opponent teams and spectators. In addition, the ‘traveling defibrillator’ will accompany the Club Secretary, to Athletics Club events, County Cricket Club Disability Team Training and other events.

The Tonbridge Black Nights Secretary said: ‘’This is such a wonderfully generous donation by Silver and Life Build to the club and also to local, grass roots sport but it might make the difference in saving someone’s life and the value of that is priceless. We are truly grateful to receive this defibrillator’’.

Let’s hope the defibrillator will never need to be used, but nevertheless will provide the reassurance to know it’s available and on hand if ever the need arises and particularly in honour of the club’s former Captain.

Inspired by these sad events, and recognising the importance of such lifesaving equipment being available when needed, we are incredibly proud to demonstrate our commitment to defibrillators as our first point of social value offering to our clients. We firmly believe that by prioritising these life-saving devices into a social value project offering, we can make a lasting impact on the communities we serve. Ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone is at the core of our values, and we will continue to prioritise these efforts.

Fast forward to today, we are delighted to share another significant step we have taken to promote heart health and safety. As part of our June Wellness Day, we had the privilege of hosting the British Heart Foundation who delivered comprehensive training on CPR and how to use a defibrillator. It was an educational and empowering session that emphasized the importance of taking proactive measures for our well-being and that of others.

Today, on Positive Media Day, we encourage everyone to reflect on the power of kindness, community support and the importance of heart health. Let’s spread positivity, inspire others and continue building a better, safer and healthier world together.
