Environmental values

Focus for the future

We are conscious that, through our working practices, we utilise carbon and generate waste. It is our firm commitment to keep both to an absolute minimum. For this reason, we have an Environmental Management System certified to ISO 14001:2015 standards and that is subject to external audit at least annually.

Planting trees for a greener future

To mark the anniversary each year of every employee, we plant a tree. We believe that this is a great way to say thank you, to give back to the environment and to raise environmental awareness.

Building a sustainable future, one tree at a time.

So far, we have planted 500 trees.

Recycling 1 tonne of paper saves 17 trees
17 trees supply enough oxygen for two people to breathe for a year.

Health & safety

We have a dedicated Health & Safety Team and are committed to maintaining the highest standards at our offices, on site and anywhere we work.

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

We treat our employees, clients and stakeholders fairly and with respect, and work collaboratively without discrimination.

We are committed to the personal and professional development of our people, helping them to acquire the skills they need to reach their full potential. We aim to be a place where people want to work, where they can have fun and still provide clients with a great service.

Wellness

Wellness is an important part of our life at Silver. We hold regular in-house events to promote good health and wellbeing, on subjects including Movember, breast cancer, the menopause and RevivR training provided by the British Heart Foundation.

Wellness

We hold wellness days covering a range of topics chosen by our colleagues and led by experts. These images capture the essence of our commitment to well-being throughout the year.

Supporting charities, communities and schools

We actively support local communities, businesses and charities. This includes helping with community initiatives, providing work experience for schools and colleges, supporting local employment and training, mentoring, charity events and sponsorship.

Construction Youth Trust

Construction Youth Trust is a charity that aims to bridge the gap between communities and construction, and the journey into bright and prosperous careers.

Sponsor for The 240 Project annual art exhibition

240Project is an established Arts and Health Activity Centre for those affected by homelessness and exclusion.

Respecting Communities; Protecting People

Silver was delighted to partner with Life Build to provide a new defibrillator to the Tonbridge Black Knights Hockey Club.

Supporting the extension to the Samson Centre for Multiple Sclerosis

Our decision to provide professional services and time to develop the extension to the Samson Centre for Multiple Sclerosis has been extremely rewarding in many ways.

CRASH Construction Industry Dragon Boat Challenge

The CRASH Construction Industry Dragon Boat Challenge was a proud highlight for the Silver team.

Competing as Long Gone Silver, the challenge brought together teams from across the construction industry, supported by colleagues and spectators who created a fantastic atmosphere and demonstrated the power of collaboration for a shared cause.

CRASH is the UK construction industry’s charity, supporting homelessness charities and hospices by helping to deliver well designed, expertly built environments for vulnerable people. These spaces play a vital role in improving wellbeing, particularly for those experiencing homelessness or living with life limiting illness.

We are proud to support CRASH’s important work and look forward to taking part again in the future.

L&Q Minds Matter Football Tournament

The Silver Strikers were proud to return to the pitch for a second year at L&Q’s Minds Matter Football Tournament. The real achievement was supporting an important cause and contributing to fundraising and awareness for mental health.

The tournament supports Minds Matter FC, a football team made up of individuals living with mental health conditions, using sport as a powerful platform to promote inclusion, wellbeing and community connection. It was a privilege to be part of an event that brings people together in support of positive mental health.

We were delighted to take part alongside industry colleagues and to represent Silver in our 80th year kit. We look forward to returning next year and continuing to support this valuable initiative.

Carpenters and Docklands Foodbank

This year, we are proud to support Carpenters and Docklands Foodbank as our chosen charity. The foodbank plays a vital role in providing food, essential items and dignity to individuals and families facing hardship, at a time when demand for support continues to rise.

Our support extends beyond a single initiative, with a commitment to partner with the foodbank throughout 2026 to help them continue delivering their services with compassion and care. Recently, our team came together to collect and donate food and toiletries, which were delivered directly to the centre.

During our visit, we had the opportunity to meet members of the foodbank team and those they support, reinforcing the importance of community based services like this. We are grateful to the volunteers and staff whose dedication makes a meaningful difference every day, and to everyone who contributed to the collection.
